A free directory of Vienna — places, services and events — built on open data by a small company.
What this is
los.wien is a directory of Vienna: the pubs and museums, but also the locksmiths, dentists, bakeries and everything else a city actually runs on. Every entry has its own page, its own address, and shows what we know about it — opening hours, a phone number, whether the door is wheelchair accessible.
It is free, it needs no account, and nobody can pay to appear or to rank higher. The listings come from open data, mainly OpenStreetMap, which anyone can check and anyone can correct.
Why we built it
We build service management software. A directory of local businesses is the honest front door to that: useful on its own, and the place a business first meets us.
So this is not a side project we might abandon — it is the part of the product that faces the street.
Where it is up to
Early. The place data is broad and improving; the event calendar is still thin. Some pages are rich and some are a name and a dot on a map. We would rather ship it honestly and fill it in than wait until it looks finished.
If something is wrong, the underlying data is usually fixable in OpenStreetMap — and that fix reaches everyone using it, not only us.

Businesses sometimes send five — roughly what a Seidl cost back when we started talking about doing this — and tell us what they would want the thing to do. That second part is the useful bit, and it is free, and it is the part we actually read.
